The History
of Belle Isle's South Carolina Waterfront Community
The History
Overlooking majestic Winyah Bay at the confluence of five major
rivers entering the Atlantic Ocean, lies a beautifully preserved
piece of South Carolina waterfront property now home to one the finest waterfront
condominium communities on the East Coast. The property is a
centuries old plantation and garden that offers a spectacle of
nature year-round. From cypress marshes to magnificent 400 year old
live oaks, the Yacht Club at Belle Isle is a place that reflects the
natural tranquility of the Old South.

It was near this site
in 1526 that the Spaniards attempted their firs settlement in North
America. And at low tide, you might catch a glimpse of the
remains of the "Harvest Moon", a union gunboat that was sunk
in Winyah Bay. Belle Isle is the site of Battery White built during
the Civil War to protect Georgetown harbor. Civil War cannon are
still preserved on this historic location, which has been recently
put into conservancy in an agreement with the Battleground
Preservation Trust. |
The Future
With a new marina, new yacht
club, new swimming pool, new tennis facilities and remodeled Pawleys
Island beach house retreat, the Yacht Club at Belle Isle will offer
homeowners the best of both worlds....a coveted water front homes in a marina location, new
amenities and distinctive, energy efficient residences. There will never
be another location like this. |
